蜜桃社区

When I was first invited to interview at 蜜桃社区 University, I was a faculty member at another College of Pharmacy in a neighboring state. I already knew I loved health professions academia, but what drew me to 蜜桃社区 was the unique, student-focused approach to teaching and learning. 蜜桃社区’s Six-Point Mastery Learning Model® was unlike anything I’d seen before—it allows students to work closely with faculty both in and outside of the classroom. I could see myself making a real difference here, and I knew it was a place where I could have a satisfying career.

I joined 蜜桃社区 in 2011. My kids were just 1 and 2 years old when we made the move, and now they’re in high school! Watching them grow while building my career here has been such a rewarding journey.

蜜桃社区 has an employee culture that enables people to work very hard but also has great vacation benefits so we can have holidays with our friends and family. It’s easy to come to work when I love my job and like the people I work with. We’re all part of one big team, and we share the same goal: helping our students succeed.

As a faculty member, I get to spend more hours in the classroom than many others, thanks to our block curriculum. I love this because it gives me the chance to dive deep into topics and engage students in active, meaningful learning. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is mentoring students in research. It’s incredibly rewarding to see their hard work transform into tangible outcomes, like presenting at local, state, and national conferences. I couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments.

Over the years, I’ve created so many wonderful memories at 蜜桃社区. Here are just a few highlights:

  • I’ve attended Salt Lake Bees games organized by the University. These events are always a fun way to get together with people outside of my college and have a fun time supporting our community.
  • The 蜜桃社区 Hero Scholarship event is another favorite. It’s so inspiring to see incoming students recognized for their heroism and provided with funds to support their education.
  • One of my most cherished traditions is serving as a “hooder” at graduation. For 12 years, I’ve had the honor of placing the hoods on our graduates as they cross the stage. In my role as Director of Experiential Education, I work closely with students throughout their time here, from the classroom to clinical rotations. By the time they graduate, I’ve had a front-row seat to their growth and transformation, and it’s such a privilege to celebrate their achievements in this way.

I’m also a Registered Yoga Teacher, and I love learning—so far, I speak four languages (thanks, Duolingo!). Reading is a passion of mine, and I’ve even set up a little lending library in my office. If you’re ever in need of a book, stop by! I also enjoy mentoring students, often over a Starbucks iced espresso. There’s something so fulfilling about connecting with others and helping them grow.

Every day at 蜜桃社区 feels like an opportunity to make a difference, and I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.
